Our Client is hiring a BESS Field Commissioning Manager
21019 Required:
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) installation and startup;
  • Experience with the technical, performance, and integration of Li-Ion batteries within energy storage systems;
  • Experience with commissioning process creation;
  • Experience with substation testing and startup;
  • Experience with protection and controls implementation and troubleshooting;
  • Experience with containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, and combiners;
  • Experience with quality control inspections and punch-list management;
  • Experience with DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV);
  • Experience with troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS);
  • Experience with electrical code, means and methods.

21019 Preferred:
  • Experience with power systems commissioning as an engineering or electrical professional, with a minimum of 100MW-hr or 5 energy storage system commissioning projects;
  • Experience with SCADA systems.

21019 Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the safety program and audits;
  • Perform detailed system quality control inspections against installation manuals, engineering specifications, and drawings, and maintain a detailed punch-list;
  • Oversee EPC and OEM commissioning procedures, status, and compliance;
  • Create and manage energization plans, including substation testing and energization;
  • Develop and lead a complete testing plan to ensure all contractual deliverables are met, including ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning processes;
  • Interface with Engineering, Commissioning, and Business Management personnel, and manage third-party substation testing;
  • must be able to distinguish color-coded wiring, stand for prolonged periods with intermittent kneeling or bending, walk on varied/uneven terrain in varied weather, operate a motor vehicle to commute between working locations, and lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

  • Experience involving utility solar power systems (5+ years);
  • Experience with utility-scale photovoltaic construction and commissioning;
  • Experience with utility-scale photovoltaic components (PV modules, combiners, inverters, transformers, met stations, substations);
  • Experience with Microsoft Office / 365;
  • Experience with Commissioning plan execution across electrical, controls, and power systems;
  • Experience with Interconnection and grid compliance testing (PPA, GIA/LGIA, ISO).

20672 Preferred:
  • Experience in utility PV systems;
  • Experience with SCADA systems of industrial plants/processes;
  • Experience working with electrical grid participants such as Transmission Operators, Independent System Operators, and Balancing Authorities (1-3 years).

20672 Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate commissioning activities from mechanical completion through energization, startup, testing, and turnover.
  • Serve as the Owner's representative during active project phases;
  • Execute commissioning plans across electrical, controls, and power systems;
  • Coordinate daily activities with EPCs, OEMs, testing vendors, SCADA integrators, utilities, and internal stakeholders;
  • Support interconnection and grid compliance testing (PPA, GIA/LGIA, ISO);
  • Lead system walkdowns and punch list closure;
  • Execute approved commissioning procedures and schedules;
  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded HMI controls, tolerate prolonged periods of screen time, and hold a valid driver's license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle for commuting between work locations
