14544 – Field Commissioning Technician (onsite) – Juno Beach, FL

Start Date: ASAP
Type: Temporary Project
Estimated Duration: 12+ months with possible extensions
Work Setting: 100% of the time at the Client’s site. No telecommuting or remote work. This is a non-negotiable requirement from the client.
Only candidates able to relocate as required should apply to avoid removal from future consideration.

Required:
• Availability to work 100% of the time at the Client’s site in Juno Beach, FL (required);
• Experience with electrical fundamentals from EET or similar coursework, including AC/DC circuits, basic power calculations, and safe measurement practices;
• Experience reading and interpreting one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment nameplates (with training on site standards);
• Experience with three-phase power systems and electrical equipment such as switchgear, breakers, transformers, and meters through coursework or hands-on training;
• Experience in protection, controls, and troubleshooting, with willingness to learn protection relays, inverters, and BMS/EMS interfaces and escalate issues appropriately;
• Experience working around electrical equipment, understanding the importance of LOTO, PPE, and electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E awareness) and learning site-specific rules under supervision;
• Experience using digital multimeter/clamp meter and ability to accurately record readings, measurements, and observations in checklists and reports.

Preferred:
• Experience with BESS equipment, installation practices, and commissioning workflows including walkdowns, checklists, test forms, and turnover documentation.
• Experience with control/SCADA systems and basic PLC/HMI, networking, or industrial communications (Modbus, Ethernet);
• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), or a closely related technical program;
• Internships, co-ops, lab-intensive coursework, capstone projects, military technical training, or hands-on trade school experience.

Responsibilities:
• Participate in the site safety program, attend toolbox talks, and follow all safety procedures and permit requirements.
• Assist with mechanical completion walkdowns and basic electrical verification under supervision, including labeling checks, terminations and torque verification, and continuity checks as directed.
• Help maintain energization and commissioning readiness checklists covering permits, clearances, documents, and required signoffs.
• Coordinate with EPC and OEM teams to track commissioning activities, open items, and upcoming test windows, escalating risks to the Commissioning Manager.
• Support troubleshooting by gathering field data such as alarms, event logs, and meter readings, documenting symptoms clearly, and coordinating follow-ups with responsible parties.
• Assist with preparation, review, and filing of test forms, checklists, redlines, and project closeout documentation, and provide regular status updates on progress and open issues.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring and/or tape; Prolonged periods of standing with intermittent kneeling or bending; Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle; Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds at a time.
