Our Client is hiring a Principal Substation Engineer (onsite) Juno Beach, FL (18932)
Required:
• Experience in Project Engineering and/or Project Management with a strong bias for action;
• Experience with IEEE, NESC, ASCE and all other applicable industry codes and standards;
• Travel required within North America;
Preferred:
• Experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation/switchyard projects (7+ years);
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering;
• PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline.
Responsibilities:
• Lead assigned substation and switchyard projects from early-stage development through construction and commissioning, ensuring successful execution across all phases.
• Support conceptual engineering activities by collaborating with the Early-Stage Project Manager and Development Group to define scope, requirements, and technical specifications.
• Provide technical oversight and due diligence of external Engineers of Record (EOR), ensuring compliance with interconnection agreements, project specifications, and applicable standards such as IEEE, NESC, ASCE, and other industry codes.
• Secure and manage engineering, geotechnical, survey, and construction services by developing scopes of work, soliciting bids, evaluating proposals, awarding contracts, and coordinating with the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group.
• Coordinate with transmission owners, ISOs, and internal stakeholders to secure switchyard sites, review interconnection studies and agreements, and ensure alignment with transmission and regulatory requirements.
• Manage long-lead material procurement and cost considerations, supporting estimating efforts, scope assumptions, and budget control to minimize schedule delays and cost overruns.
• Represent Engineering & Construction (E&C) interests by presenting project updates, managing risks, supporting commissioning activities, assisting with regulatory/legal matters, and collaborating with OEMs to optimize design integration.
