Estimated Duration: 12 months with possible extensions
Work Setting: Working remotely is accepted. The resource must be in the office a minimum of four days a week, or as approved by the client.

Required
• Experience collaborating with business units to understand operational procedures, data requirements, and reporting needs (1-3 years);
• Experience documenting user requirements, workflows, and system specifications for new or modified applications (1-3 years);
• Experience performing feasibility studies and cost/benefit analysis for proposed solutions (1-3 years);
• Experience assisting in developing scripts and prototypes to automate processes and integrate AI-driven features (1-3 years);
• Experience reviewing system capabilities and constraints to ensure alignment with TxDOT standards (1-3 years);
• Experience supporting testing and validation of new solutions in a rapid development environment (1-3 years);

Preferred:
• Experience with AI/ML Fundamentals: Understanding of AI concepts and ability to apply pre-built models or APIs;
• Experience with Python for data processing and automation tasks;
• Experience with Bash for system-level automation and deployment;
• Experience with agile methodologies and quick prototyping tools;
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and containerization (Docker);
• Experience in data integration and API development;
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines;
• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Support the deployment and maintenance of specialized engineering services, focusing on model ingestion and automated quantity extraction. You will ensure that digital models are accurately integrated into the system to facilitate automated data processing.
Identify core business challenges and evaluate potential technical solutions. This involves performing cost/benefit analyses and feasibility studies to ensure that proposed system changes provide tangible value to the engineering and procurement teams.
Consult with cross-functional departments to analyze current operational procedures. You will act as the bridge between end-users and technical teams to identify specific input/output requirements, report formats, and data summarization needs.
Write comprehensive descriptions of user needs and required program functions. You are responsible for outlining the specific logic and sequential steps necessary for developers to modify existing software or build new computer programs.
Review existing computer system specifications, technical limitations, and scheduling constraints. You will determine if requested upgrades or program changes are technically viable within the current infrastructure.
Oversee plan conformance checks to ensure that automated outputs and engineering plans align with established standards. This includes utilizing PEPS (Professional Engineering Procurement Services) frameworks to maintain regulatory and procurement compliance.
Contribute to the development of CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) automation workflows. This responsibility focuses on improving the speed and reliability of software updates, enabling the rapid onboarding of new tools and specialized talent.
