14218 - Principal Transmission Engineer (remote) – Juno Beach, FL

Type: Temporary Project
Estimated Duration: 12 months with possible extensions
Work Setting: Remote, with travel within North America.
Required:
For 18227:
• Experience defining and influencing project requirements and scope for significant transmission projects (EHV, HVDC, overhead, underground, and submarine);
• Experience securing engineering consulting, surveying, and geotechnical resources through NEER’s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group;
• Experience managing key deliverables such as design criteria, Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, Proposal Narratives, and Constructability Assessments.
For 18372/18376:
• Experience in the development, design, engineering, and construction of High Voltage Transmission line projects (5-7 years);
• Experience understanding one line and three-line diagrams, general arrangements, plan and profiles and other common deliverables;
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering.
Preferred:
For 18227:
• Experience with competitive transmission proposals;
• Experience with value engineering and solutions development;
• Experience with HVDC transmission systems;
• Experience with EHV overhead transmission systems (500kV+);
• Experience with underground or submarine cable projects.
For 18372/18376:
• Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action;
• Experience with standard industry tools such as PLSCADD, Microsoft products, Auto-CAD, Primavera and other software;
• PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline.
Responsibilities:
For 18227:
• Work with Early-Stage Project Managers to define and influence project requirements and scope for transmission projects;
• Secure engineering consulting, surveying, and geotechnical resources by developing scopes of work, securing bids, and awarding work through NEER’s ISC Group;
• Ensure timely production of high-quality deliverables, including design criteria, Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, Proposal Narratives, and Constructability Assessments;
• Represent E&C’s internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations and briefings to management;
• Mitigate risks and resolve issues identified during the project lifecycle;
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop innovative solutions for transmission projects;
• Provide progress updates and risk mitigation strategies to various levels of management.
For 18372/18376:
• Work with Early Stage Project Managers to define and influence project requirements and scope for transmission line projects;
• Secure engineering consulting resources by developing scopes of work, securing bids, and awarding contracts through NEER’s Integrated Supply Chain Group;
• Coordinate with stakeholders to develop routes, secure permits, and gather necessary engineering data (e.g., geotechnical, survey, lidar);
• Ensure timely production of engineering deliverables, including design criteria, Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, and As-built drawings;
• Represent Engineering & Construction (E&C) interests in meetings with various levels of management, providing updates on progress, issues, and risk mitigation strategies;
• Support competitive proposal efforts by contributing to RFP documents and ensuring alignment with project goals;
• Collaborate with other groups to ensure successful project outcomes, including presentations and briefings on project status.
