14116 – Sr UI/UX Designer (onsite) – Austin, TX

Estimated Duration: 3 months with possible extensions
Work Setting: The working position is Hybrid - On Site and Telework. Position will be 2 days remote with 2 days (Mon, Tues & Thurs) required to be onsite
Required:
• Availability to work 3 days per week at the Client’s site in Austin, TX (required);
• Experience designing user interfaces and experiences for enterprise systems, including wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch;
• Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into intuitive design solutions that align with accessibility and branding standards.
• Experience applying UX design principles such as hierarchy, contrast, and alignment to create responsive and accessible web and mobile interfaces.
• Experience creating wireframes and prototypes that support agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visual fidelity transitions.
• Experience designing graphical diagrams and visual narratives to communicate timelines, workflows, and system architecture.
Preferred:
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate design workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Lead research, discovery workshops, and usability testing to understand user needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Create wireframes, prototypes (low/high fidelity), visual hierarchies, and data visualizations aligned with accessibility and branding standards.
• Design interfaces for AI/ML systems with focus on explainable AI, regulatory requirements, and complex business logic.
• Work with Code for America, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to align design decisions with business goals.
• Apply industry tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Hotjar) and strategies for responsive design, usability, and SEO optimization.
• Ensure designs meet WCAG and accessibility standards, advocating for inclusive, user-centered solutions.
• Champion user perspectives, ensuring solutions are intuitive, empathetic, and impactful.
